Former India captain Virat Kohli did a light bhangra step to celebrate Ravindra Jadeja wicket of New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham in the 2025 Champions Trophy final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Photos and videos of the moment have now gone viral on social media.
It happened in the 24th over of New Zealand’s first innings in the final. Jadeja set Latham up with an off-break outside the off-stump on the first ball before firing in a full delivery on the second. Latham tried to sweep it but got late as the ball sneaked in to hit him in front.
The Kiwi took a review but the on-field decision was upheld. Replays showed skipper Rohit Sharma celebrating the big wicket with a fist pump. Cameras then cut to Kohli in the out-field walking towards the pitch while doing bhangra and enjoying himself. Check the posts from the fans on social media here:
Both Kohli and Rohit have had a lot to enjoy in this Champions Trophy. India have reached the final after winning all their group-stage matches and then beating heavyweights Australia in the semi-final.
While Kohli has been one of India best batters in the tournament, Rohit captaincy has been spot on and he now has the chance to become only the second captain after MS Dhoni to win multiple ICC tournaments.
