Indian captain Rohit Sharma shared a few words of encouragement with Vaibhav Suryavanshi after the 14-year-old was dismissed for a duck as MI defeated RR. Rohit gesture is going viral.
India captain Rohit Sharma sweet gesture towards 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is winning the hearts online. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) youngster was in for a reality check on Thursday as he fell for a two-ball duck against Mumbai Indians (MI) only a match after his historic century in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
While Vaibhav Suryavanshi was sent back early by Deepak Chahar, the rest of RR batters also crumbled under the pressure of the 218-run chase they lost by 100 runs and were knocked out of the IPL 2025.
If the knock of 101 against Gujarat Titans, which made him the youngest ever to score a hundred in T20 cricket, put Vaibhav Suryavanshi on top of the cricketing world and made him the biggest headline in the sport, the duck dismissal against MI would have taught him that cricket is a great leveller. Its not like a sprint; its never about a few big scores, but it’s a marathon where only consistency matters.
Rohit mentors Vaibhav Suryavanshi after duck dismissal
Who can be a bigger mentor for Vaibhav Suryavanshi at this stage than Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who burst onto the scene in 2007 with the help of his prodigious talent but found it tough to nail a place in the Indian cricket team. It was only in 2013 that he clearly established himself with consistent run-scoring as an opener.
After Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals, Rohit Sharma, being the veteran and the mentor for the young Indian lot, took it upon himself to share a few words of advice to Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He walked up to the Bihar teenager at the conclusion of the match and had a word with the RR batter.
