Congress leader and former Union minister P Chidambaram was hospitalised after he fainted during a prayer meeting in Ahmedabad on Tuesday Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram, who was admitted to Zydus Hospital in Ahmedabad after developing a health scare during a prayer meeting at Gandhi Ashram Tuesday, was discharged on Wednesday. Head of Emergency Medicine at the hospital, Dr Ketan Patel, told The Indian Express, “Mr Chidambaram was discharged today (Wednesday) and he was stable. All his reports were normal and we believe he had suffered mild effects of a heat stroke.” The 79-year-old Rajya Sabha MP had been kept under medical observation overnight after almost fainting during the CWC meeting on Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked Union Health Minister J P Nadda to ensure there was “no deficiency” in the Congress leader treatment, an official release from the Gujarat BJP unit stated earlier on Wednesday. “When former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram came to Gujarat to participate in Congress party national convention, his health deteriorated.
